ZAEPD CADIR PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The Zambia Association on Employment for Persons with Disabilities (ZAEPD) has moved swiftly to implementing the Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADIR) Project in the Four (4) districts namely Lusaka, Rufunsa, Zimba and Shibuyunji.

ZAEPD recently conducted courtesy calls on different duty bearers to register its presence before the actual implementation. Hasten to mention that ZAEPD expresses deepest gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception which was rendered by the stakeholders in the above-mentioned project implementation areas. After successfully meeting all the local relevant Government offices and representative of the people, ZAEPD proceeded to conduct awareness programs through drama performances and sketches to sensitize local communities on the availability of bursaries for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The 100% Government bursaries are provided under the Ministry of Technology and Science (MoTS) to enrol skills training in the Tevet accredited institutions.

These community engagements are anchored on creating awareness on the need to include persons with disabilities in the mainstream society so that no one is left behind. However, as a result of negatives attitudes and discrimination by the society towards persons with disabilities, they have continued to lag behind. However, efforts are being made by ZAEPD, Organizations of persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Government and relevant stakeholders to remedy this challenge.

The CADIR project places much emphasis on stakeholder collaborations and ZAEPD has a deliberate open-door policy premised in joining hands with other organizations of like mind so that persons with disabilities can enjoy their fundamental human rights on equal basis without infringement.
